Inorganic Flocculants. Inorganic flocculants, such as polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and aluminum sulfate (alum), are commonly used in mining operations. PAC is effective in bridging and floc formation, whereas alum works by neutralizing the charge on …
Different materials to use in the AFM were tested to get adsorption of depressant. Since the AFM system under the chosen conditions was not robust enough, even with a lot of efforts, the planned work with flocculants in WP4–6 could not be performed. The project results were summarised at the final meeting (WP7). Expected …
At start-up, the relatively high level of feed solids, 17-20%, called for in design led to difficulties in achieving the degree of flocculation necessary to meet required settling rates.
The copper tailing sample used in this study was obtained from Dexing Copper Mine, Jiangxi Copper Co., Ltd (Jiangxi Province, China), which is the largest open-pit low-grade copper mine in Asia. It generates about 100 million tons/annual of copper tailings and transports them to tailings ponds over long distances.
During the experiments, permanent-plugging of ceramic filter media was not observed. On the contrary small concentrations of non-ionic or slightly anionic flocculants increased the capacity. There were also remarkable differences between the copper concentrates used and their behaviour during the filtration with Ceramec filters.
However, Shirley (1979) pointed out that in plant practice "most of commonly used flocculants are excellent depressants for molybdenite even if it has been collected with an oil. Therefore, flocculants should not be used on middling thickeners in the copper circuit or the molybdenite plant feed thickener unless absolutely necessary".
These flocculants are typically used to neutralise positively charged impurities in water, making them easier to aggregate and separate. Anionic flocculants are effective in treating a wide range of contaminants. Cationic flocculants. In contrast, cationic flocculants, like Bonchem's B0320 cationic flocculant gel block, bear a positive charge.

The collector can absorb copper sulphide and make its particles hydrophobic. The copper mines will be recycled through flotation processes. In flotation the air will be passed into the pulp. The ing agent will also be added to produce bubbles and make the copper particles firmly attached to the bubbles at the top of the pulp.
This region's double digit growth rates in copper production have been compounding since 2000 and are expected to continue through at least 2015. By 2015 DRC and Zambia will be the 3rd and 4th largest copper …
